I wonder if Altena had one of those? She might  have had reasons to use the underpowered Lebel revolver against MiriKiri, rather than the more deadly PPK...

My interpretation of the Soldats seal, rendered as a seal ring. 3D-printed in brass steel:

I don't have any seal wax to actually try it out. Since I know next to nothing about what makes a good seal it probably won't work very well...

I suspect it'll be ok, but then, there's really only one way to find out...

yeah, give it a test! You can get sealing wax from Blick art supplies, among others...

Being impatient, I tested it on some polymer clay:

Unlike wax, the clay remains soft so it deforms a bit while removing the stamp.

I think the "scroll" part is too deep, so the text doesn't reach the wax (or fimo, in this case). The "shields" are a bit on the deep side as well I think. But the general idea looks okay. The resolution of the steel isn't so great, more expensive materials allow finer detail.

Looks like it turned out pretty well, and as you said, it would probably look even better on sealing wax.

Sealing wax arrived in the mail, this is my first attempt:

It takes an imprint much better than the fimo, but its hard to photograph well because of its shininess.

As always, I can make the model public on shapeways if anyone would like to order one for themselves.

That came out fairly well, more definition on the eyes on the face will be good.

I found this service that does custom seals for cheap so I had to try it out.

Nice seal. Does your service sell seals internationally?

Yes. I sent you a PM to keep the advertising off the forum...

I ordered another one:

I tweaked the design a bit; I made the shields symmetrical, and I enlarged the scroll to make better use of the available space, and added a motto.
And I got some black wax.
