ZOMFG! I figured it out! And I still have the last 3 to go. Ok, this is a theory people, but it sooo works. Spoiler thread is for anything that may be spoilery.

Nadie lived in her happy little town when she was all little. Ellis lived in Project Leviathans lab because that was where she was made. One day, she used her powers to make a break for it. She ran away and ended up in Nadies village/town. They became friends and did all the happy little things they do together in the opening. Meanwhile, Rosenburg and Heins were hunting down thier only good specimen (suxs 2 b u L.A.) and found Ellis in Nadies city/village/town. When she resisted, they started burning down the place to smoke her out. Ellis helped Nadie get out of the town/village/w/e so they could escape together, but someone in Leviathan (coughRosenburgcough) grabbed Ellis and took her back, leaving poor Nadie to watch her home burn with everyone she knew dying and her new friend taken away forever. Of course, they found each other later, but together they barely make a 70 watt bulb so.... ;D

 I wish you were right... ^^; I wouldn't have minded a chibi flashback of Nadie and Ellis together (a real one instead of a Kokoppeli induced one). But wouldn't Nadie remember it in that case? As far as we know she has no memory issues...

We are talking about a girl who fell for a playboys tricks not once but twice... if they brought back squenchy in the last episode, I highly doubt she would remeber him. Plus, ellis' hair was alot shorter back then. And haveing your home town burn infront of your eyes is very tramatizing ( i think) so she may have pushed it out of her mind, hence minimal flashbacks.

My guess is Nadie's family died from either by accident or natural distaster.
