Noir / "The Art of Drawing Manga" by Ben Krefta
« on: October 28, 2014, 12:26:57 AM »
I came across this book in my local Barnes & Noble today and had to do a double-take. Does this image look familiar to you all? Just in case it doesn't, here's a quick reminder. I did a bit of quick Google-fu and found that this book was published back in 2003. I also came across another image, which seems like a more blatant ripoff of the Noir promo art. And then I found this one, which is a straight up copy-paste. Here's an album version if you want to compare them all.

So, what's up with that? Is there any copyright infrigement/plagiarism going on? Or what? Have you guys seen this/discussed this before? Just curious.

Also, hi everyone! :)

ELDA TALUTA / Deciphering Yuki Kajiura's album "Fiction"
« on: April 11, 2014, 10:28:35 AM »
I've been listening to this album quite a lot lately, and while all of the songs are beautiful, I don't really understand the lyrics. Broken down into phrases, they make sense, but the overall narrative is lost on me. I thought it'd be nice to figure out what exactly Kajiura was trying to convey.

First up, "Key of the Twilight".

Come with me in the twilight of a summer night for awhile
Tell me of a story never ever told in the past

Take me back to the land
Where my yearnings were born
The key to open the door is in your hand
Now fly me there

Fanatics find their heaven in never ending storming wind
Auguries of destruction be a lullaby for rebirth

Consolations, be there
In my dreamland to come
The key to open the door is in your hand
Now take me there

I believe in fantasies invisible to me
In the land of misery I'm searchin' for the sign
To the door of mystery and dignity
I'm wandering down, and searchin' down the secret sun

Come with me in the twilight of a summer night for awhile
Tell me of a story never ever told in the past

Take me back to the land
Where my yearnings were born
The key to open the door is in your hand
Now take me there
to the land of twilight

ELDA TALUTA / Anime Conventions
« on: April 19, 2011, 01:57:53 PM »
Anime Boston is this weekend, and I was just wondering if anyone was planning to go/might go. If so, maybe we could meet up and hang out?

This thread is also for later conventions anyone is attending and wants to schedule a BTF thing. :)

ELDA TALUTA / Some friendly competition
« on: December 23, 2010, 12:50:27 AM »
We've all played some internet game to keep us occupied for a while, and we all have our high scores to prove it. This thread here is to share a game that we played, and the best scores we got. Then anyone can play the game and share theirs, and can challenge others to best them. This is all in good fun, of course. No hard feelings at all.

I'm currently playing Robot Unicorn Attack on Facebook. My best so far is 46,424.

ELDA TALUTA / My life is... huh.
« on: December 01, 2010, 11:28:14 AM »
For those things about your day that are neither good nor bad, but just... huh.

One of my high school teachers randomly Facebook IMed me a few minutes ago and asked me to take an online IQ test. She told me she couldn't score higher than a certain number and her other friends beat her by 10 points or so. I told her my IQ score which was about 30 points higher and then she signed off. Huh.

While I'm sure most if not all of you guys are keeping up with the World Cup, is there anyone else following the future of gaming? I usually lurk here and here. The more news that comes out the more I nerdgasm. >.> Personally I'm waiting for the 3DS, as it has some pretty awesome titles coming out (ZOMG Ocarina of TIME!), PokePark for the Wii (don't judge), Epic Mickey, Zelda: Skyward Sword, and some other stuff. What about you?

ELDA TALUTA / Playing Catch-up
« on: June 14, 2010, 10:50:18 AM »
Well hey guys! How have you all been?

So I downloaded a little over 100gb of anime on a whim and that seemed to propel me back into it for now. I feel really bad for being gone for so long, and I hope I'll be motivated enough to stay. So, getting to my point, what have I missed in the forum, and in the anime scene? :D?

Announcements & Introductions / Taking a break
« on: January 10, 2009, 01:39:44 PM »
I really don't want to, but I have too much stuff going on right now. My schedule will be less busy as soon as I get into college and when fencing season is over in February. Sorry, but I'll have to leave you guys for a while. I'll try to pop in when I have time and maybe post a bit. If someone could take over for me in the RPG, that'd be cool.
Thanks~ See ya later. :-\

Announcements & Introductions / BeeTrainFan the Series
« on: November 16, 2008, 08:33:34 PM »
I don't think I'm the only one who thinks BTF the Series could be made into reality. I mean, we've brainstormed a good amount of it in a short amount of time. I talked it over with some members in the chat, saying that we already have OSTs, episode titles and characters set. We still need a plot (this is where your evil plan comes in, Kovi. We're waiting on you :P) and character designs, though.

I was thinking we could do either a webcomic or a flash animation (that is, if anyone knows how). So, what does everyone think? This thread could be used for the details of our show, including script, pictures and whatever else.

Noir / The Neverending Noir Story
« on: August 04, 2008, 12:50:41 AM »
Found this somewhere on Basically I post a sentence, then the next person posts and adds to continue the story.

- Try not to make long posts. Maybe like 15 words max.
- Begin and conclude your sentence with "..."
- Try to keep the language clean (although this has never been a problem)

I'll see how it goes in this board. If it succeeds, I'll make a thread everywhere else. :D

Here we go!

Mireille and Kirika had found themselves in another predicament...

ELDA TALUTA / A Birthday Card for Yuki Kajiura-sama

ELDA TALUTA / Playing 'Oozora no Auriga' live.
« on: May 01, 2008, 12:07:31 AM »
So, my orchestra teacher allowed me to arrange a piece for the chamber (advanced) orchestra. I decided to do "Oozora no Auriga", by Sahashi Toshihiko, from Simoun because it is an amazing song. I can never get tired of it.

Anyway, I arranged it all by ear in one week, using FinaleNotepad to write the score and Magix Audio to play around with the original song.

Tell me what you think! :)

Spoiler: show

ELDA TALUTA / Elda Taluta Caption Thread!
« on: April 24, 2008, 12:49:38 AM »
For those non-Bee Train anime, other shows (live-action or whatever), video games and anything else! :)

Guess we'll have to add some rules, like include where it came from and the characters?
Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni. That'd be Hanyuu.

*gunshot* *WHOOSH!*

Hanyuu: Wah! ... >:| I thought we were playing FRISBEE!
Mion [offscreen]: Really? I thought we were playing Madlax!
