ELDA TALUTA / I Dare You to Enter this Topic Thread
« on: August 30, 2008, 02:49:31 PM »
UnTrue suggested a fresh thread for the Truth or Dare game, and here it is.

The person who fulfils the previous truth or dare *usually* sets the truth or dare for the next player. Eg:

PersonA - "Truth or Dare?"
PersonB - "Truth!"
PersonA - "Question?"
PersonB - "Answer! Truth or Dare?"
PersonC - "Dare!"
PersonB - "Do this!"

...etc. But not always. If a Truth or Dare hasn't been given in a bit, you might want to jump in and pitch one yourself, eg:

PersonB - "Answer! Truth or Dare?"
PersonC - "Dare!"
PersonB - (doesn't post)
PersonD - "Do this!"

Here are some examples of great truths and dares (imho!)

Some Dares

- Artwork
- More Artwork
- Retrieval of a random picture or irregularity on the web
- Actions in a forum RPG
- Anime reviews
- Writing fan fiction, poetry etc (careful with these as they may take time to fulfil - says me who once stalled the thread for over a year because of this. Nope, I still haven't done it.)

Some Truths

- Favourites and lists.
- Which BTF member would you marry? (Be careful, your wishes might come true).

When it comes to Truth, please don't ask anything that might compromise anyone's personal sense of privacy on the web, and when it comes to Dares, please don't involve any offensive or explicit sites or subjects. With both truths and dares, don't demand anything that's going to land anyone in jail or really compromising circumstances.

By that same token, when challenged, feel free to refuse anything you might be uncomfortable with or simply don't have the time to complete. This isn't a day camp for kids where your reputation is at stake, it's a fun game between mature friends :)

Glhf!

Announcements & Introductions / New Online Game (quite good!)
« on: August 06, 2008, 09:00:23 PM »
I usually don't advertise things, but a new online card game has sprung out of Japan with an anime-esque flair to it. Not as complex as Magic but has lovely graphics and an interesting range system. The name is "Alteil" and you can find it at www.alteil.com (English) and www.alteil.jp (Japanese). Note those are different servers, and the Japanese one has been around a bit longer (since January?) whereas the English one is brand new (almost a month old, I think). This is also why you haven't seen me on chat lately  :-[

In other news, I've got another Bee Train convert, bringing my total of indoctrinated adherents to five  8)

Weather continues charming.

TADAIMA!

Hey guys, I feel somewhat like an unfaithful husband being away from the btf world for an entire week (gasp!) but pressing matters took me out of town, and I returned to a string of rehearsals and cricket matches and whatnot... anyway...

An old friend of mine whom I hadn't seen for years has turned from a shy little thing who rarely left the house into a tall, curly-haired, guitar-playing, wears-shades-indoors anime fan (how girls change) and I'd rather like to introduce her to Bee Train...

(Among other things, says Koveras)
(Kavi coughs)

...but I'm not sure where to begin. She likes Fruits Basket and thinks Bleach is o.k. (which is even with my prognosis), doesn't like Naruto and didn't sound overly interested in Haruhi when I pronounced its/her virtues. I don't think she's seen a great deal but she's the age and temperament to like shoujo anime and does. Maybe Tsubasa Chronicle, in that case?

Anyways, input appreciated. Hopefully I'll get enough into a stable schedule now to polish Kirika's Place, which is taking waaaaaaaay longer than it ought to have, for various reasons. Find me on chat, I miss you guys...

ELDA TALUTA / OST no Kajiura-sama
« on: April 23, 2008, 01:42:07 AM »
To make up for my lousy poll from last week...

All OSTs as evaluated as that part of them for which Kajiura was directly responsible (so not the Ebby half of Eat-Man, for instance).

.hack//* / Poll: Needing Advice
« on: April 19, 2008, 05:02:57 AM »
Besides the fact that I love you all, one reason I'm posting so avidly is that I'm getting a lot of sleepless nights lately, and this is one of them. So not entirely clear on how stupid this question is because it's 3 am here...

I'm thinking of sitting my mother down to watch .hack//SIGN over the weekend, and may or may not recommend/watch the ovas with her. She won't mind watching them, but I'm not sure if they'd detract or add to the rather more profound .hack//SIGN storyline. Remember, this is her first exposure to .hack, and as it happens, her second exposure to Mashimo (I made her sit through an episode of Noir but I didn't expect her to like it and she didn't).

Anyway, please post advice and/or use the poll. Ftr, she's 59 and likes anime in general. She likes special effects and interesting characters. Her favourite novel is LOTR and her favourite movie is Lawrence of Arabia (so she has nothing against violence; it was the girls part of the girls with guns that had her finding it disturbing).

MADLAX / On second thought... (Spoilers!)
« on: April 12, 2008, 08:08:24 AM »
I just got done with my second run-through of Madlax, and besides noticing a couple tracks which aren't on the ost (groan) I wanted to run a couple ideas past people <poke> who are as savvy and lucid regarding Madlax as I am with Noir <coughs>.

LIMELDA!*

Spoiler: show
It seems that the dead trio (Carrosea/Eleanore/Vanessa) need to die, each to teach Madlax/Margaret an element of love - Vanessa to teach Madlax forgiveness, Eleanore to teach Margaret affection, one could broaden on those but I don't feel qualified to as yet. What I'm really curious about is Carrosea. He, more than the other two, follows Margaret with a great self-determination - he's not doing this for Margaret, he's doing this for himself - or is he? If anyone has any musings they'd like to share, I'm all ears.

*in case you weren't paying attention.

Is there any way I could access the BeeTrainFan chat remotely (i.e., with an external irc application, or something similar)?

Announcements & Introductions / Amv
« on: April 04, 2008, 04:45:06 PM »
Totally un-bee-train, but as long as we were on the topic of amvs (http://www.beetrainfan.org/forum/index.php?topic=489.msg10968#msg10968), I think this takes the cake:

[yt=425,350]<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="
&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="
&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>[/yt]

(Full marks to Marta for having me rolling in laughter, though :)
(didn't embed it right the first time, my bad - fixed now)
