Happy Birthday Big K! Marta is beatable this year  ;D

Unfortunately, the temporal clause "eventually" has no mathematical boundaries, so if you extend the time span in which, according to her knowledge, I will read her post to the length of my entire life, the probability that I will never do so asymptotically approaches zero. :-(

You know you've played too much Shadow of the Colossus when you have to suppress the urge to jump while riding your bike alongside a moving tram... true story.

Well holy shit, you're alive! :D
I was wondering what had happened to you.

I jumped onto a moving train and had to hike all the way back to Germany from Zambia. Just got back a week ago. :(

I don't know if you're serious or not ,but how could a train go all the way to Zambia from Germany considering there's a body of water separating the two continents?

I dunno, man, I was out drunk most of the way to there. :(

Hmm, so amnesia... Any super powers, skills, or knowledge you didn't have before?!

Well, I can now converse with my fridge and shape clouds into funny shapes by looking at them.

So in your sober moments did it ever occur to you that you weren't Germany?

To my defense, my drinking pals were speaking French. I think.

It's good to see you post again Koveras, it's been awhile.

Hmph, s-stupid BTF, i-it's not like I decided to check up on you all. >__>

Jokes aside, I agree this paper wants to explore the multi-layered presentation, ambiguity and openness to viewer interpretation of Madlax from Part 1. The translated text seems to point out that it's not a genre specific anime and the creative hinting and multiple perspectives in the anime (similar to the ergodic text) is written in Part 3.

Well, multi-layered presentations are nothing really new, semiotics-aware novelists like Eco (RIP :() have been experimenting with it for decades. While the idea that an entertainment anime can be analyzed in the same way is quite unusual for academia, I wonder if there is more to that.

This is quite interesting, although I can't quite grasp what the author's main point is from the few translated excerpts. It would seem she (?) is arguing that the multi-layered presentation chosen by Mashimo somehow turned the strictly linear anime series into an ergodic text akin to a game, which is very relevant to my current interests.

I'd love to see a complete translation of this, even though I feel that a lot of things are getting lost in translation here, not helped any by the author's apparent belief that academic texts should use as many smartypants words as possible to be credible.

A movie version of "Vernoica Mars" is going to be made thanks to Kickstarter.  but that's not what I'm unhappy about what I'm unhappy about is a major show from a major network actually siphoned from Kickstarter.  Fund your damn projects by your self Warner Bros.  leave Kickstarter to indy projects.

I was under the impression that Warner doesn't have anything to do with that movie, and it's original creators are making it instead...

Gaming’s Biggest Problem Is That Nobody Wants To Talk. Mind that this was written before Project Eternity and the Kickstarter boom. Hope that it has given the big studios some food for thought...
