[MartAnimE]: so after this rewatch I gotta say I liked episodes 13 and 14 better than 15 and 16

[jmsrober]: The Shaoli episodes serve the purpose of making it clear there are three not two.
[MartAnimE]: and I liked the Intocabille two part arc better than the Shaoli one too
[noirlax]: and Chloe's grand retour and trials made me thought of something.
[jmsrober]: In the earlier Chloe episodes Chloe was too adversarial to make it feel like they are all the same.
[noirlax]: me too but that being said those were good eps.

[jmsrober]: I don't like seeing Mireille captured any more than Kirika, but I like those eps more than 7.

[jmsrober]: But from my persepctive she wants Kirika & Mireille as Noir and not either of them with Chloe.
[jmsrober]: I think to Altena Noir has to be a protector of the children.
[noirlax]: That's a plausible theory since she seems to regard Chloe as more expendable from this episode
[jmsrober]: To ward the darkness from the nursing babies their black cloaks serve as shields is MIreille's poem line.
[jmsrober]: The peace of the newly born their black hands protect is Kirika's.
[noirlax]: I see that as Noir being the traditional assassins and warriors for the weak and improverished
[jmsrober]: Altena wasn't protected as a child so she is forging a Noir that will protect the helpless children.
[jmsrober]: Chloe wants to be a killer, but Kirika and Mireille were placed on that path reluctantly.

[jmsrober]: My feeling is Altena sees the soldats, who are the world, as the one most ultimately responsible for what happened to her as a child.

[jmsrober]: Chloe is a Soldat through and through but the grey Kirika and Mireille are outsiders. Dark Kirika is a soldat, and ultimately I think Altena wants the grey Kirika not the dark one.

[noirlax]: I see the relationship and depth of the characters really building over these 4 eps.
[jmsrober]: Dark Kirika will kill anyone. That to me doesn't fit the concept of Noir as a compasionate executioner of sinners or a protector
[MartAnimE]: Mireille and Kirika are a lot more warm and fuzzy to each other it seems

[jmsrober]: If altena wants Noir to purge the soldats including herself then she needs a Noir that isn't a soldat.
[jmsrober]: I think the Milosh and Claude episodes really change their realtionship. Mireille is thinking of Kirika as a person, and Kirika responds to that.
[jmsrober]: Before Kirika was more of an object with a connection to her past that she needs but doesn't care for, or at least tells herself she doesn't care for.
[noirlax]: yeah but also Kirika as a person too
[noirlax]: I mean she seems more human and sweet.
[jmsrober]: Her reaction to Milosh's death was more like her reaction to Nazorov having that attack.
[jmsrober]: She is reconecting with the more human side of herself. As messed up as Mireille is she isn't insane. The people who raised Kirika were.
[noirlax]: Mireille is messed up but she's very human
[jmsrober]: Kirika deep insdie wants to escape the madness and Mireille in a way provides her an example of relative normality.
[noirlax]: like a damsel in distress blonde of film noir.
