I think it should definitely be ADV because they own Noir and Madlax. All chapters of a trilogy should logically be licensed by the same company! Also, El Cazador sort of "advertises" the previous chapters of the trilogy, so it makes sense from a commercial point of view too!

You are forgetting the little fact that Cazzy is virtually unwatchable unless you've watched the said previous chapters already. :D

I don't know about that... I think we had some members at the forum who were quite active El Cazador fans while not having watched Noir or Madlax before. But I guess for the most part yeah, it's much more enjoyable if you have watched the other two previously.

Yeah, but I suppose if it came down to it, I wouldn't have a problem if someone else picked it up. ^_^

My point comes from my personal perception that Cazzy is a bit TOO self-referential to fascinate many "outsiders" (see the other thread). It's OK for long-time Noir and Madlax fans to expect something similar from Cazzy and not find anything, but I can hardly imagine a person who liked Cazzy go and watch Noir and Madlax, liking them just as much. Well, that's possible if a person enjoys N&M kind of shows but in that case, why the .hack haven't they watched them before? :D

Not at all! I'd be happy enough that it gets licensed! :) I just think that if ADV doesn't get it no one will... :-\

I guess new anime fans get more exposed to the recent shows than the old, possibily similar, ones, and end up discovering those later on... Though I think it would be hard to hear about El Cazador without getting references to Noir and Madlax, unless you watch it without knowing anything about it.

If I hadn't seen Noir or Madlax beforehand my Cazzy viewing experience would've still been the same. The other GWG series played virtually no role in my enjoyment and appreciation of El Cazador.

Really? I dare say I would've still enjoyed El Caz very much indeed, but surely getting the numerous references to Noir, Madlax, and occasionally, the .hack series counts for something! Sure, it stands well on its own, but it wouldn't be nearly as funny without the GwG references. I think Nadie's "you should at least get bigger ones" in reference to Ellis's forks is the funniest thing I've heard/seen which does not somehow include sheep :D

I have to disagree, in my case. The references to past works didn't add anything. I'm afraid even Blue Eyes wielding a sniper rifle really didn't do anything extra for me. So as mentioned, independent of the other series I'd probably still like El Cazador the same.

*Sigh*  In the absence of R1 DVDs, I should probably just buck up and get the Japanese releases.  At least I'll know the money goes to Bee Train that way.

Of course, I tried to tell myself that about Spider Riders, but the box set prices were as expensive as getting Cuban cigars from my "source", so I guess priorities won out...   :-[

Man, anytime someone posts in this thread I'm hoping it's an ADV license announcement! ^^; Still looking forward to it...

If Cazzy, Dai Mahou Touge, and Bamboo Blade got licensed I could die happy.

I'm hoping ADV license El Cazzy too, otherwise I will unleash some girls with guns to change their mind  :D
