Bee Train Fan Wiki:Article conventions
From Bee Train Fan Wiki
These are article conventions for Bee Train Fan Wiki, both general and specific for certain topics. It is not demanded to always abide by them, however, to give articles a professional touch, they have to be normalized and possess similar structure, so it's probably better to have the conventions fulfilled. It is also not demanded to be able to write an entire article according to conventions at once: if you don't have time or will to complete it, just place the unfinished template to where it is appropriate and save it. Someone else (or maybe even you yourself) will come and contribute to it later.
Contents |
General
There are several general conventions:
- Each article should ideally contain some useful external links.
- A great attention should be paid to any kind of spoilers.
- Japanese and romaji spelling should be provided for any fictional names and titles.
- Articles named after persons and characters should be entitled according to the following rule of thumb: in Japanese names, the family name goes first, in European names, the given name goes first. However, when sorting a person or character into a category, the family name always goes first!
Anime series and OVAs
First of all, each series and OVA should have their own category named after it. The root article is the article dedicated particularly to this anime. It's imperative that root articles contain no spoilers, but instead have links to as many of articles in their cats as possible. Other articles within the category are free of such restrictions (with one exception), however, all spoilers in them must be tagged with corresponding templates (Template:Spoiler start and Template:Spoiler end).
Anime root articles
spoiler free
anime
Short general description of the anime (genre, style, overall themes,
similarities with other works, cult status, origins, etc.).
Plot synopsis
Brief non-spoilorific summary of the first few episodes. The point of
this section (and the entire article, by the way) is to make everyone,
who haven't yet watched the anime, want to do it right away.
Episode list
:See also <TITLE> episode list (spoiler-free) and <TITLE> episode guide.
List of episode titles, nicely formatted. If there is only one episode
(e.g. .hack//GIFT), this section is redundant and following is to do:
* "Plot synopsis" is renamed to "Plot summary"
* A complete plot summary is posted in the section
* Spoiler templates are applied where necessary
* Spoiler free template is removed from the top of article
Characters
:See also <TITLE> characters.
Non-spoilorific list of major characters. If a character's existence is
a spoiler in itself, this character should be excluded from the list.
Each character's description should include a link to their own article
(if available) and the names of the actors who voiced them in Japanese and
English dubs.
Music
General infos about the composer and the OST (with internal links to every
album).
Opening(s) and ending(s)
Detailed infos about OP(s) and ED(s), including authors and external lyrics
links. Internal links also possible, if an article exists.
Trivia
List of trivia about the anime.

Episode lists
The point of an episode list is to give a general outline of the plot without going too much into detail and spoilers. It should be written so that only those who have watched the anime until a certain episode can fully understand its summary.
spoiler free
:This is a spoiler-free episode list, you may also want to read the complete
episode guide.
Short general description of the plot (setting, narrative style, etc.).
Episode 01
* English title (and subtitle, if any)
* Japanese title (with romaji transliteration)
* First air date
Non-spoilorific synopsis of the episode. In the later eps, a great attention
should be paid so that their description does not spoil the earlier ones - the
entire list should be spoiler free.

:This episode guide contains spoilers, you may also want to read the spoiler-
free episode list.
Short general description of the plot (setting, narrative style, etc.). You can
just copy it from episode list article.
spoiler start
Episode 01
* English title (and subtitle, if any)
* Japanese title (with romaji transliteration)
* First air date
Complete summary of the episode. Please, note that it should be a summary, not a
word-for-word recording.

spoiler end

Character lists
Some general remarks about the characters (male-female ratio, virtual
characters, etc.).
spoiler start
Major chracters
The characters in this section should be sorted by importance to the
plot. When in doubt, sort alphabetically by their names.
Character 01
* English name
* Japanese name (with romaji transliteration)
* Episode appearances (optional)
* Seiyū
* English dub voice
Complete but brief description of the character. When writing such
description, please, keep in mind that every major character should
have their own article.
Character 02
...
Minor characters
Minor character 01
* English name
* Japanese name (with romaji transliteration)
* Episode appearances (imperative)
* Seiyū
* English dub voice
Complete description of the character. Since it's a minor character the
description will not be too large, anyway.
Minor character 02
Character profiles
character
Brief, non-spoilorific and formal description of the character.
Personality
Some overall remarks about the character's personality - without going
too much into detail and spoilers. This section should not include
character development and give only a brief insight to the character's
inner world at his first appearance in any anime.
spoiler start
Biography
Background
Summary of everything that has happened to the character before his or
her appearance in the anime(s).
<TITLE>
Summary of everything that has happened to the character in the particular
anime. If the anime is named after the character, the section should be
renamed to simply "Anime" to avoid confusion.
<TITLE>
Each anime that features this character should have its own sub-section.

Character analysis
Some remarks on character development and analysis. This section is
entirely optional and likely intersecting with "Personality".

Other anime conventions
There probably should be other article types in need of normalizing, but it's too early now to discuss that.
People
Generally, only Bee Train staff is allowed to have articles here. However, musicians and seiyus who participated in more than one BT project, should also be included. Pesonal categories for certain people are generally risky, however, in some cases (e.g. Kajiura Yuki's) they are possible.
Person profiles
person
Brief description of the person and his/her contributions to Bee Train works.
Biography
Detailed biography.
Works
List of Bee Train (an other) projects this person participated in. Each item
on the list should include the year and the job(s) the person performed. The
list should be sorted by the year of release.

employs in his or her works.
Trivia
