A Pilgrimage To Paris

Mireille's Appartment

Finding Mireille's appartment shows some of the reasons why it is so difficult to find the Noir locations. Take a look at these screenshots. It are views outside her window, taken from 3 different episodes. As you can see, they are different in the 3 episodes.

From "Maiden with Black Hands".

From "The Daily Bread"

So it looks in "Les Soldats".

Again from "Maiden with Black Hands", for comparison with the roofs of the above picture.

The church St. Germain des Prés. The tower fits the screenshot from "The Daily bread."

Assuming the screenshot from episode 2 is right, we can judge where the appartment should be located. The red spot marks the point from which my photo was taken. So the only possible view at the tower of St. Germain des Prés is from the direction marked by the blue arrow. So possible streets are Rue de l'Abbaye or Rue Jacob.

The map is taken from Google maps.

That's Rue de l'Abbaye.

View from the other direction.

But if you compare with the screenshot of the outside, it doesn't fit.

But if you compare with the pic from that Japanese site, which says Rue de l'Echaude, it doesn't seem to fit either. Though it is hard to judge with such a little picture. And from the direction of the view at the tower of the church this street is excluded.

This is a shot from Rue de l'Abbaye. If you imagine it from a higher position, it has some resemblance with the screenshot from "The Daily Bread".

Even the exterior of Mireille's Appartment differs between the episodes, here in "Tea in the Moonlight

As we can see from the screenshots of the church near Mireille's appartment and what I pointed out in the introduction pages too, there is a lot of "artistic freedom" in Noir. In addition, what I'll point out during the next pages, they mix different locations together. So it is possibble that such a lane exists, but not with that view at St. Germain des Prés. Or that it is invented at all.
